Privacy
Draft, under review.
This is a Bible study site. We collect as little as we can to run it, we never sell it, and reading never requires an account.
If you just read
- A visitor cookie. A random ID, so we can count how many verses you've opened (for the free allowance) and limit abuse. It holds nothing about you.
- Searches. What you type in the search box, which verse it found, and a scrambled (salted and hashed) version of your IP address. We use these to see which verses people are studying. The public "Being studied" page shows verses, never people.
- Fonts. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address when they load.
If you make an account
- Your email and a securely hashed password, and an optional display name.
- The verses you save, star or flag, your notes, and what you've read. These are private to you.
- Comments you post are public, shown with your display name (never your email).
- If you join a church plan, the church's admins can see how many members it has.
If you pay
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep your Stripe customer ID, whether your subscription is active, and the amounts you've paid.
The AI research
Verse studies are written by an AI model, named on every study. What we send to the model is the verse and its source texts. Nothing about you, and none of your searches, notes or comments, is sent to it.
Who else handles data
Our hosting provider (Render), Stripe for payments, and an email provider for account emails. Each only gets what it needs to do its job. If ads are ever shown (only if the yearly support goal isn't met), the ad network may set its own cookies; supporters never see ads.
Keeping and deleting
You can delete your account from the Account page. That deletes your notes, saved verses, history and comments. Search records stay, without your account attached, so the usage numbers stay honest. Payment records are kept as long as the law requires.
Children
The site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
