Where it appears

Revelation · 3
  1. Revelation 4:3 κυκλόθεν [was] around

The One seated there looked like jasper and carnelian, and a rainbow that gleamed like an emerald encircled the throne.

Here: 'On every side, in a circle around'. The radiance surrounds the throne rather than arching over it. The same word appears in Ezekiel 1:27–28 (Greek) for the radiance around God's figure.

  2. Revelation 4:4 κυκλόθεν around

Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and on these thrones sat twenty-four elders dressed in white, with golden crowns on their heads.

Here: 'From every side, in a circle.' It is the same word used for the rainbow that encircles the throne in 4:3. Ring follows ring: the rainbow, then the 24 thrones, and in 4:6 the four living creatures.

  3. Revelation 4:8 κυκλόθεν around

And each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around and within. Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

Here: "All around". With "within" it means the creatures are covered in eyes everywhere, outside and in.
