Ezekiel 11:1 בְּנָיָ֖הוּ Benaiah
Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the LORD that faces east. And there at the entrance of the gate were twenty-five men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, who were leaders of the people.
Here: The father's name, which was common. Some readers hear an echo of the leaders' slogan in 11:3 about (not) building houses. That is possible but should not be pressed.
-
Ezekiel 11:13 בְּנָיָ֖ה Benaiah
Now as I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I fell facedown and cried out in a loud voice, “Oh, Lord GOD, will You bring the remnant of Israel to a complete end?”
Here: 'Yahweh has built'. Here it is in its short form; 11:1 has the long form. Some commentators notice the irony next to the officials' slogan that 'the time is not near to build houses' (11:3), but the text does not stress it.
