Range of meaning

'We (stressed) are with you.' 'With' can mean being present, being allied, or backing someone up. In commissioning speeches 'I am with you' is usually God's promise (Josh 1:5, 9; Hag 2:4). Here the people say it.

Against the English

BSB 'we will support you' and NIV 'We will support you' turn the presence into a promise of help. KJV 'we also will be with thee' and WEB 'we are with you' keep the plainer Hebrew. There is no verb in the Hebrew, so it may mean 'we are with you' (now) or 'we will be' (from now on).

Used elsewhere in the period

Compare 1 Chr 28:21, where David tells Solomon that the officials and all the people are 'with you' and at his command, right after 'be strong and do.'
