And say to Amasa, ‘Aren’t you my flesh and blood? May God punish me, and ever so severely, if from now on you are not the commander of my army in place of Joab!’”
Here: Amasa, Absalom's general (17:25) and David's own nephew through his sister Abigail. Putting his name first in the Hebrew sentence spotlights him: after the message to the elders of Judah (v. 12), here is a separate word for Amasa.

1 Kings 2:5 וְלַעֲמָשָׂ֤א and to Amasa
Moreover, you know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether, the two commanders of the armies of Israel. He killed them in peacetime to avenge the blood of war. He stained with the blood of war the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet.
Here: "And to Amasa". Absalom's general, whom David then appointed in Joab's place (2 Sam 19:13). He was also David's nephew and Joab's cousin, which is why Joab could greet him as "my brother" before stabbing him.

Here: David's nephew and Joab's cousin (2 Sam 17:25). He led Absalom's army, was later appointed by David over Judah's troops (2 Sam 19:13), and was murdered by Joab (2 Sam 20:10).
