Where it appears

Genesis · 1
  1. Genesis 10:11 עִ֖יר Ir

From that land he went forth into Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,

1 Chronicles · 1
  1. 1 Chronicles 7:12 עִ֔יר Ir

The Shuppites and Huppites were descendants of Ir, and the Hushites were descendants of Aher.

Here: A personal name. As a common noun the same word means 'city', but here it is almost certainly a short form of Iri, the son of Bela named in 7:7. That would make the Shuppim and Huppim clans a branch of Bela's line.
