Range of meaning

Appearance or look: how something strikes the eye.

Against the English

KJV 'form' and others 'appearance'. 'Form' is fine but can suggest bodily shape. The word means 'the look of him'.

Used elsewhere in the period

Only in Daniel 2:31 (the statue's 'appearance was frightening') and here.

Where it appears

Daniel · 2
  1. Daniel 2:31 וְרֵוֵ֖הּ and appearance its

As you, O king, were watching, a great statue appeared. A great and dazzling statue stood before you, and its form was awesome.

  2. Daniel 3:25 וְרֵוֵהּ֙ and appearance his

“Look!” he exclaimed. “I see four men, unbound and unharmed, walking around in the fire—and the fourth looks like a son of the gods!”

Here: 'And his appearance.' It means how something looks. The 'his' points ahead to 'the fourth': 'his appearance, the fourth one's'. The only other use is Daniel 2:31, of the statue whose look was terrifying.
