Genesis 5:15 וְשִׁשִּׁ֣ים and sixty

When Mahalalel was 65 years old, he became the father of Jared.

Genesis 5:18 וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים and sixty

When Jared was 162 years old, he became the father of Enoch.

Here: Comes first for emphasis: 'Sixty, that's how many…'. It's the first step in a rising count (sixty, eighty, past counting) that sets up the drop to 'one' in the next verse. Sixty also turns up in Song 3:7, where sixty warriors surround Solomon's carriage, so it may be a stock number for royal grandeur.

Isaiah 7:8 שִׁשִּׁ֤ים sixty

For the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be shattered as a people.
