Where it appears

Daniel · 6
  1. Daniel 4:31 בְּפֻ֣ם [was] in [the] mouth of

While the words were still in the king’s mouth, a voice came from heaven: “It is decreed to you, King Nebuchadnezzar, that the kingdom has departed from you.

Here: 'In the mouth of': a concrete picture of words not yet finished. The boast is cut off mid-breath.

  2. Daniel 6:17 פֻּ֣ם [the] mouth of

A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that nothing concerning Daniel could be changed.

  3. Daniel 6:22 פֻּ֥ם [the] mouth of

My God sent His angel and shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, for I was found innocent in His sight, and I have done no wrong against you, O king.”

Here: 'Mouth (of).' The Aramaic has a singular: 'the mouth of the lions,' taking all their mouths together. English naturally makes it plural.

  4. Daniel 7:5 בְּפֻמַּ֖הּ [were] in mouth its

Suddenly another beast appeared, which looked like a bear. It was raised up on one of its sides, and it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. So it was told, ‘Get up and gorge yourself on flesh!’

  5. Daniel 7:8 וּפֻ֖ם and a mouth

While I was contemplating the horns, suddenly another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like those of a man and a mouth that spoke words of arrogance.

Here: 'And a mouth.' Speaking is the horn's defining act. In 7:11 it is 'the sound of the great words' that comes just before the beast is destroyed.

  6. Daniel 7:20 וְפֻם֙ and a mouth

I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and the other horn that came up, before which three of them fell—the horn whose appearance was more imposing than the others, with eyes and with a mouth that spoke words of arrogance.
